The addition of the Winterthur Museum’s 47,000-square-foot exhibition building will create a new entrance for this renowned museum and feature a two-story foyer that connects to the historic mansion. The new wing will have three galleries, with the first serving as an introduction to the museum, the second showcasing historic furnishings, and the third accommodating changing exhibition space. Mueller served as the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineer for the project, designing the HVAC, fire detection and protection, power distribution, security, and lighting systems, as well as a major utilities reconfiguration. The project also involved expansion of the site’s existing chilled water plant. The building HVAC systems include a Direct Digital Control (DDC) automatic temperature control system.
