The renovation of Krieger Hall encompassed the lower two floors and basement of this six-story building, and addressed the university’s need for additional state-of-the-art teaching and research laboratories. The remaining four floors remained in service and were occupied throughout construction. Mueller’s services included engineering for the replacement of the main central air handling unit. The project also included a new DDC monitoring and control system, a new dedicated exhaust system, upgrades to the utility systems, new lighting, substation upgrades and new power distribution systems, a new fire protection system, and a new data and communications infrastructure. The project required extensive field investigation work to confirm existing conditions and address challenging installation details for the laboratory piping and duct systems.
